Aligned with The Nature Conservancy’s mission, the course promotes approaches that integrate science, data, and spatial planning to reduce the impacts of flooding on people, infrastructure, and ecosystems.

Participants will learn the fundamentals of flood risk, the main types of flood events, and general mitigation strategies, along with a practical approach to quantifying damages and benefits through scenario‑based analysis.

Through the use of the WaterProof platform, the course demonstrates how to translate hydrological and flood information into clear indicators that support early‑stage investment decisions and prioritization.

 
Target audience:

This course is designed for:

  • Professionals and decision‑makers working in risk management, land‑use planning, water resources, climate change, and conservation.
  • Technical teams from public, private, and civil society organizations involved in the design, evaluation, or prioritization of flood mitigation projects.
