This course introduces the fundamentals of flood risk and mitigation strategies, combining key concepts with tools available in the WaterProof application.
Participants will learn how to quantify flood risk and evaluate the impact of nature-based solutions through comparative scenarios.
Using WaterProof and the FastFlood model, the course demonstrates how to transform flood maps into economic damage estimates.
The approach aims to support early investment decisions and prioritization within flood mitigation programs.

This course aims to promote the use of WaterProof, which is an application aimed at project managers to help them obtain an indicative and fast NBS investment portfolio with an associated ROI. The tool seeks to engage stakeholders in implementing solutions to local water challenges and prioritizing locations for potential NbS water security programs (such as Water Funds).

With this course TNC seeks to generate capacities to promote the implementation of Solutions based on Nature, NbS, through the WaterProof tool, which requires the user to have certain knowledge about the way in which water is obtained for a city from catchments located in supply basins. , as well as the characteristics of its treatment plants, so that, through soil and climate analysis, it is possible to suggest the most appropriate Natural Solutions and their respective return on investment.
