The original cost function (A1) for mechanical rapid mixing is as follows:

This has as variable (x) the total volume of the rapid mix in ft3 (cubic feet). To convert it into a function of Flow (Q), the following relationship was used:

Where Tr is the residence time, that is, the time that the water is in the process. For the fast mixing, a usual time of 30 s was taken, so the replacement of the variable was done like this:

Additional modifications to this function correspond to the correction of costs per year, with the CCI ENR index of 9547 of the year 2013, to obtain A3. Then the part B2 related to the elasticity index is added. This is done in the same way as explained in the article Cost functions - general.
