Cost Function for Dredging:

Dredging consists of removing sediments in the form of sludge that settle to the bottom of ponds and reservoirs. The costs associated with this activity correspond mainly to labor and the provision of machinery for the development of this process, this includes fuel, repairs, maintenance, among others. Knowing this, for the construction of the cost function, it was considered that:


  • All sediments that are retained in a year by the reservoir (Wsed_E) or the raw water reservoir (Wsed_RAC) are removed.

  • On average, the cost of the m3 of sediment dredged is equal to $ 15.6 USD / hour.

  • The density of the sediment to be dredged is equal to 2.65 Ton/m3.
