Break-Pressure Tank (BPT):
The collected water is transported to the treatment plant by means of a canal or by means of a pressure pipeline. In the case of being transported by a pressure pipe, the difference in elevation between the catchment and some point of delivery of the raw water must be considered. If this height difference is too high, it can cause the pipe to reach pressures higher than the maximum allowed by the pipe. In this case, it is necessary to build a Break-Pressure Tank that allows the water pressure to be reduced to atmospheric pressure (relative pressure equal to zero).
